"There's got to be a better way".
Devshop was born out of frustration with the existing approach to project management. It's a classic case of something good being born from something bad. The bad being, of course, that most software projects finish significantly late.
Many existing project management methodologies are completely generalized, presumably based on the assumption that project is a project, is a project. If that were true, the software industry wouldn't be suffering from so many late projects.
At Devshop, we believe that software projects have unique challenges and risks that other kinds of projects don't have. Software projects exist in a fluid environment that generates complexity and risk unmatched by any other discipline. Devshop was created to meet these unique challenges and avoid these unique risks, by developing specialized tools and techniques. A single Gantt chart or calendar view and task-list alone are not enough - software projects need more.
This is our belief. This is why we're here.
Devshop was founded in 2005 and has built a radically new project management tool specifically designed just for software teams. With that focus and dedication to software projects, we can offer the things that really matter to you.
The company is head-quartered in Ottawa, Canada.
Devshop is going to encapsulate the experience of veterans and build it into the products that software teams use every day. We're going to share those high impact techniques and best practices with you so that you are more likely to experience software project success.
We'll be your one-stop-shop for the kinds of tools that will help you be not just a development team, but a great development team. We'll also be part of a community of forward thinking developers who are committed to excellence and better methods of developing software.
Now you know where we're headed. Stay tuned. Give it a try. And feel free to check out my blog on software project management in the mean time (Uncommon Sense (for Software)).
